I had water running down both sides of my V berth. Upon examination it was clearly evident that water was making entry through the aft portion of the pulpit where it is attached to the deck. I removed the teak from this area under the windlass (V berth) and removed the 4 bolts (starboard side). One was twisted off and without a nut, another bolt was very bent. However that was not the problem. How do you get at the nuts under the deck on the port side? The scoop in the chain locker on the port side comes so far back I cannot get my arm under and then up to the bolts. The board allowing access to the port side horn cleat will not allow access to the pushpit! I have been in correspondence via e-mail with Catalina Yachts. I am still having difficulty trying to get the bolts out of the deck. One is stripped and the other is cross threaded. There is not access to them from the starboard side in the V-berth. It appears I will have to cut an access hole in order to reach them. I will keep you posted with my progress. |

| Our problem like others was a leaking around the base of the shower out in to the main cabin from underneath the wood trim. The fix was actually quite easy. A bead of caulk around the entire shower pan, between the pan and the shower wall. We also ran a bead up the corner over the trim piece about 6 inches. And on the advice of the dealer always run the sump when the water is on as an extra precaution to avoid having water fill up and overflow the pan. No more leaking!! | |
