The following pictures and captions are contributed by Rob Novak regarding his Lazzerete Project.
I have had a few issues with items in the lazzerete interfering with the
steering mechanism and the rudder position indicator. I decided to build
two shields to protect the rudder position indicator and keep hoses, lines and
boat brushes out of the steering quadrant.
In both cases I used cardboard to fashion a template that I then traced onto 3/8
inch Seaboard that I bough at TAP plastics (http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=344&).
I cut the Seaboard with a saber saw and used a wood file to take off sharp
edges.
