Sanitation Hose Replacement

from Paul Beukema: 1) ¬ Head to Tank run. ¬ I did seal both ends with expanding foam which really helped control the odor. ¬ I then used duct take to spiral tape the ends together from the tank end. ¬ The pull-thru went okay until I got to the smaller opening just forward of the shower. ¬ I was pulling from the access in the shower wet locker and my wife was pushing from the tank end. ¬ Because of the increase in the OD of the new hose coupled with the large amount of cables running through the same opening it became very difficult to move the hose through that opening. ¬ So we used soapy water in a spray bottle to stray the hose in the pass thru opening forward and aft of the shower access. ¬ That ¬ helped a lot. ¬ I did measure the

Sources for deck caps for waste, fuel, and water

Several captains have suggested the following sources for replacements of the stainless caps to the various tanks.¬ Most of¬ the sources below require you to buy the whole fitting.¬ Defender sells just the cap.¬ To me, the chains are dangerous and just beg to have the cap go over the side. JMO. This source sells just the cap without the rest of the unit: http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?path=-1|7504|2290180|2290181&id=191806 The rest of these sell just the whole unit: This one includes it’s own “key” integrated into the cap: http://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm/method/Shopping_Products/CatId/292/ID/351.htm Catalina Direct: http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm/product/1125/deck-pipe-waste-stainless-steel.cfm Marine Parts Depot (this is just one of the fittings, i.e. for Diesel) http://www.marinepartdepot.com/new316ststde2.html Westmarine http://www.westmarine.com/buy/perko–fuel-water-unmarked-fills-for-pipe–P010729861

Replacing sanitation hoses

Before you pull the old hose out (through the under sink cabinet) drill a hole in it and attach a line at the tank end. If the hose jams, you can pull it forward again to release it. Then attach the line to the new hose and use it as a guide, have someone pull gently while you push from under the sink. That way the new hose will not go where it wants, but rather where you are guiding it. Use enough new hose length so that you can cut off the few inches with the holes in it. Yes two holes so that you can arrange the leed line to be in the center of the hose. Some tape, creating a cone also helps to guide the hose. Bob Xanadu c380, #243   Might help to spray outside of new hose with silicone or Teflon. Warren This

Access to Pump out hose just below deck plate

I need to replace my head storage tank pump out hose. I’m not quite sure how to get access to the connection below the deck plate. There is a small curved liner piece in this area. It looks like I might be able to remove this piece if I work its bedding loose, but I don’t want to attack it without some confirmation that I’m on the right path. Any advice? Thanks Mike (s/v Morning Glory) Mike, Using pictures from Bob Goldman on Xanadu, last winter I replaced all the¬ sanitary hoses “downstream” of the holding tank i.e. to the macerator¬ pump and to that pump out fitting. I used pvc in lieu of the flexible hoses. The change is spectacular¬ resulting in total elimination of any odor. To make that connection you are¬ asking about I cut the existing hose a few inches below the deck fitting within the

Replacing Sanitary Lines on C380, Hull 243

1 ‚Äď I would suggest that you flush out the entire system 2 or 3 times 2 ‚Äď Disconnect the main 1 ¬Ĺ‚ÄĚ hose from the rear of the head and from the rear of the holding tank. To make it easy, carefully make a cut along the hose and pry off. Drill a small hole in the end of the hose under the sink and attach a messenger line. Pull the hose forward into the main cabin. Remove the hoses on the outlet side of the tank. In order to reach the hose clamps on the waste pump out deck fitting, you must remove the corner piece over the hanging locker (to get this out, remove the teak trim along the starboard side of the cabin). You will have to drill a hole in the headliner to reach the hose clamps 3 ‚Äď Remove the plywood top over the
