ChartGuides Update: ICW

[Editor: This comes from a long-time C380 owner.  The content should be of interest to members given the experience of Bob Bierly who sent it to the list serve.]

Folks,

As a “public service” to those  few east coast sailors  who may be looking to make that first big trip south, I pass along this semi commercial message from publishers of the best anchor and waterway guide publications I have found. (Barbara and Doug Leinhard on SV Melinda Kay might want to comment). The message says it all.

Hard Dodger and Hard Bimini

Well it’s been in the idea stage for quite a while. The necessity of the canvas dodger and bimini needing to be replaced has primed the need to build a hard dodger and hard bimini from a Starboard type material called Seaboard. He wanted to replace his fiberglass hard dodgers with a more cost effective material and that’s where I came in. I’ve posted the initial mounting photos and Dan will be finishing the canvas work in the near future.  Hello From the Bahamas!

After months of talking and planning, a lot of shopping, fixing and stuffing the boat, plus a couple of months moving down the ICW, we finally made it “across” [the Gulf Stream] to the Bahamas Islands. But all this is, as is said, a story for another day.

However, at least sunrise of that day may have arrived with the printing of Commodore Earle’s [Valkyrie] column herein. So peruse that for all the associations doin’s, possibly including some of its officers adventures.

On to the tech stuff. We first met Canadian cruisers Cliff & Debra Mewdell aboard Watermark I
